Liz has worked in the IT industry for over three decades, in New Zealand, the US, UK and Europe, in a variety of roles in commercial and not for profit organisations, and in both vendors and client companies. Liz was a Director of the CAUDIT Leadership Institute in Australia for three years and has had two stints as a faculty member. She in her second term as chair of the Universities NZ Information and Communications Technology Committee and also in her second term as the New Zealand invited board member on the CAUDIT Executive in Australia. She was elected to the TUANZ board in 2015 and was elected Chair of the TUANZ Board in 2017. Liz has recently completed a tenure on the REANNZ Board. She is also currently a member of the Museum of Transport and Technology (MOTAT) Governing Board and is the co-chair of the NZ Tech Leaders group.
Liz studied Computer Science at the University of Westminster in London, and holds an MBA (Human Resources Management), Distinction from AUT. She was awarded the Educause Jane Ryland Fellowship in 2009 (https://www.educause.edu/careers/scholarships/eligibility/past-recipients), and in 2014, Liz attended the Harvard Graduate School of Education undertaking the Institute of Educational Management intensive course. She holds an Executive & Organisational Coaching Certificate and is an Agile Certified Professional. In 2017 Liz was named as one of the ten most innovative CIOs in New Zealand, and in 2018 and 2023, one of the top 20 CIOs in NZ. In 2022, Liz won an InfoTech Benchmarking CIO Award, in the Large & Enterprise Division and in 2024 was a winner of Info-Tech's 2024 CIO Awards in the APAC Leaders Category.
Liz is a Chartered Member of the Institute of Directors in NZ.
Liz Gosling is currently the Chief Technology Officer & CISO at Auckland University of Technology, New Zealand. She leads a team of around 120 people and is responsible for information technology provision for AUT’s nearly 30,000 staff and students, including 6,500 + desktop and laptop computers, IT and Digital plans, networking, audio visual services, innovation, contracts and software licensing, customer relationships and support services, as well as the development teams and infrastructure.
Her professional interests include customer relationship management, human resources and change management, strategy and people development. She is passionate about helping everyone develop, both professionally and personally.
