CAUDIT Meritorious Service Awards Spring 2025

At the heart of our mission to enable digital capabilities to transform education and research is the active engagement of our Member Representatives. Their dedication to collaboration, sharing knowledge and best practices, drives the sector forward.

The CAUDIT Meritorious Service Awards honour former or outgoing Member Representatives who have made significant and lasting contributions to CAUDIT and the broader sector.

At last week’s 2025 Spring Members’ Meeting dinner in Parramatta, we proudly recognised Scott Sorley for his exceptional and sustained service.

Scott Sorley
Scott commenced at the University of Southern Queensland in 2004 as a Network Engineer and became the Member Representative in 2010. He is the longest-serving Australian Member Representative, a role he held until his recent departure from USQ. Scott’s commitment to the sector is evident in his extensive service: he was Treasurer of CAUDIT from 2017 to 2020, and a regular contributor at CAUDIT Members’ Meetings.

Scott also played a pivotal role in the formation and leadership of AHECS, serving on its Executive Committee from 2020 to 2023 and guiding the group through its critical early years. He contributed to the CAUDIT Professional Development Initiative in 2019, chaired the AARNet Advisory Committee from 2021 until 2025, and led the Board of Management of QUDIT as Chair from 2015 to 2019.

Throughout his tenure, Scott has demonstrated an unwavering dedication to advancing digital capabilities, sharing knowledge, and supporting collaboration across the sector. His leadership and contributions have left a lasting impact on CAUDIT and the broader higher education community.
